Sneak peek: the first ballad from my musical!

from unicornprince.blogspot.com:
I thought I would share with you the lyrics to the first ballad I have written for ShimmerShine Meets the Zombies: The Musical.

This ballad takes place just as a truck full of zombies pulls up in downtown London.

Our hero, the unicorn ShimmerShine, happens to be passing by on the way from a ballet performance in the park.

WILL HE SAVE THE DAY???

Truck Full of Zombies
a ballad

O look at that how delightful
A truck full of zombies
Any other unicorn would be frightful
But it is I, ShimmerShine!

I will pirouette and grand jeté
Play my glass harmonica
In an inspirational ballet
In my tutu, looking fine!

The zombies want some human brain
But I will charm them all to peace
And humanity will remain
Saved by ShimmerShine!

The inspiration of cucumber sandwiches

from unicornprince.blogspot.com:
I was having tea and cucumber sandwiches with my friend the mermaid Dr. Whirlpool CleverCreek, PhD today, and we got to discussing my upcoming playwriting job.

I told her my ideas and she loved them (of course!). She also had some words of wisdom. "ShimmerShine my boon companion," she said, "Constantly recall that the craft of authorship is a delicate blend of grave peril and ennobled victory! Your theatrical creation requires the nascence of a heroic protagonist"

(I do not remember her exact phrasing but she is extremely intelligent so I am certain she used all of these "$5 words"!)

She is of course correct! My play needs a very special hero to inspire the young actors. Who, I thought to myself, is the most heroic person I know? Why, I realized, he is not a person at all, but a unicorn: myself!

And thus my play is born: SHIMMERSHINE MEETS THE ZOMBIES: THE MUSICAL

I was also able to give Whirlpool some reciprocal advice, since we have a beautifully symbiotic relationship. She asked me what condiment to put on her cucumber sandwich (we had a choice of salt, pepper, relish, catsup, mustard, Tabasco sauce, and brown sugar) and I said "All of them!"

Decisions, decisions!!

from unicornprince.blogspot.com:
I am redecorating! I have broken another waterbed with my horn and flooded my bedroom, so I need entirely new carpets.

I adore selecting carpet so I am not at all upset about this.

However, I have hit a quandary: should I choose a turquoise mohair or a lavender shag carpet?

It is my own "Sophie's Choice"!!

My career as a playwright progresses

from unicornprince.blogspot.com:
A local theatre group is looking for new plays for their theatre workshops for children this summer!! The plays will be performed by children for all of their parents to see. How exciting!

I have not written a children's play in many years so that means I have plenty of ideas simmering just beneath the surface of my mental ocean of creativity.

The difficult part of course is deciding which to pick. Here are a few ideas:
  • A parody of the "Harry Potter" series in which Harry is an elderly female named Mary Kotter! All of her friends are elderly as well so all of the children will get to wear extensive makeup and prostheses

  • A play about dudes mowing lawns while high, telling "highlarious" jokes!! <--this would be quite edgy so suitable for junior high students since it would "speak their lingo"

  • The episode of Star Trek: The Original Series called The City of Forever (this will not be a parody, it is the episode dialogue directly transferred to theatrical form because I would not want to dilute its beauty)

  • A fairy tale about a princess who meets William Shakespeare and she offers him three wishes! His wishes are a) the death of Christopher Marlowe; b) delicious hamburgers; c) world peace. This will teach the children the value of peace and brotherly (and sisterly!) love

Introducing Crabzilla

from unicornprince.blogspot.com:
O my, today I discovered the existence of this exciting creature whom I will dub "Crabzilla"!

I wonder if he is looking for romance? I feel we could make an excellent pair. Imagine all the wonderfully intricate and glorious braids he can make in my tail and or mane! And he could scratch my back at the same time. Delightful!

Toe Loops of Beauty

from unicornprince.blogspot.com:
I am currently watching the lovely Anabelle Langlois and Cody Hay! This reminds me of something I've been meaning to post about.

Though my friends have never asked me, I'm sure they often wonder, "ShimmerShine is so graceful, why is he not on the Canadian Olympic figure skating team?"

WELL, we never know what the future may bring...I have decided to wait for my Olympic glory. Should I tell you my secret plan? I cannot decide!

O wait, I can decide: I will tell you. This has never been attempted before at the Olympics so please please do not suggest it to any other teams.

When I compete, I will wear special skates outfitted with bottles of spray paint! The spray paint will, I think, be many rainbow colours, especially pink and blue and purple.

As I do quadruple axels and toe loops and spins around the ice, I will also be drawing a beautiful inspirational message for everyone to see! This will add a masterful element of beauty and surprise to my performance.

Since my spray-paint skates have not yet been invited, I must be patient...however, you can see my early prototype design of my message below!!

Tidbits from the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

from unicornprince.blogspot.com:
I had intended to liveblog the Olympic Opening Ceremonies since they are in my beautiful country of Canada! However I found myself slightly "sloshed" if you will on Mountain Dew and so was unable to type.

I instead took notes using a beautiful pink highlighting pen on some bathroom tissue so I will decipher these and share my thoughts from last night.

  • Nikki Yanofsky singing O Canada!!! I am thrilled!!! I have been watching Canadian television even more than usual this week in order to catch every single one of her commercials singing "I Believe", a song of great subtlety that I admit makes me cry every time. Miss Yanofsky herself is quite lovely and I adore her lip gloss. How do I make my own lips so shiny???

  • Watching the countries come out with their flags is always fun. I love to guess which country will be next! It surprises me that Georgia has its own team. I personally would choose Alaska or Maryland to have their own team if we had to pick an American state, but that's just me, I'm sure Obama had his reasons.

  • Wow wow wow I adore Nelly Furtado's dress

  • O, such beauteous displays of acrobatics and ballet! I feel foolish now that I did not try out for the "Riverdance" portions of the evening. Since I have four hooves instead of two feet, they could have had twice as many stomps!!

  • I am very impressed to see Home Tree from Avatar making an appearance as well

  • SLAM POETRY YES I AM SO GLAD THE OPENING CEREMONIES COMMITTEE FINALLY USED MY SUGGESTION!!!!!

  • I am so excited to see Quebecios singer Garou. DID YOU KNOW that he is actually a bona fide (tee hee notice my French there since he is Quebecois) loup-garou, aka werewolf? He is, and is quite good pals with my dear friend Snarls von Muchteeth

  • This last bit here is indecipherable, perhaps I should have used something other than bathroom tissue, but if I recall correctly I was quite distressed by the torch lighting monoliths refusing to open. I ran out in the yard and called to all my neighbours and asked them to give their psychic emotional strength to the Olympics and to Mister Wayne Gretzky in particular. My neighbours did not come outside but I am sure they were following my instructions indoors. One through several cans of soup near my head which I thought was quite pleasant because I do love soup and it was nice of him to share.

Snuggles vs. Cuddles

from unicornprince.blogspot.com:
Today a reader asked me, "In honour of Valentine's Week, what is the difference between snuggling and cuddling?"

I am of course delighted to help, so I made this handy chart! Please click to view it nice and large for your learning pleasure.

Nearly killed for beautiful shoes!!

from unicornprince.blogspot.com:
Well. I have narrowly escaped death yet again.

The audition for London's Greatest Showband was alas a fake. It turns out that Hot Cool Nick was actually working for shoe designer Iris Scieferstein and was hoping to poach my beautiful unicorn hooves!

They are beautiful shoes so honestly I cannot blame women who wear them, but please, know this: they are made with real unicorn hooves!!! I hope that PETA is aware of this.

Also, I owe my good friend the mermaid Whirlpool Clevercreek an apology. I am very sorry for disregarding your warnings and you may say "I told you so" as many times as you like.

Silly Facebook!

from unicornprince.blogspot.com:
O, Facebook, you can be so fickle sometimes!

In the recent changeover to the social networking website's beautiful new look, it seems Facebook's counting system has developed a terrible bug: When you look at my fan page, it says I only have 20 fans!

Obviously the decimal calculations are off and in truth there are 200 fans.

Grateful for my writing abilities!

from unicornprince.blogspot.com:
Ever since several days ago when I determined he would be the best Marty McFly Junior, I have developed a bit of a crush on the young Justin Bieber.

(Since I am an immortal unicorn, I can really date any age that I like s0 this is not untoward.)

I went to his official website to sigh longingly at photographs of the beautiful musician. I scrolled down to see the comments left by his other fans on his photos:

awhh why are u so gorgeouss! why dont we have ppl in london like you + your smilee is just drop dead AMAZINGGGGGG! XX iloveyou xxx

Reading these comments made me realize one thing: I am a complete shoe-in as Justin's true love! Since I am an amateur poet, I am so far beyond these girls in artistic attractiveness that I do not even have to worry.

I will compose a poem to leave on his website. What do you think of this?

Justin Bieber, a poem

Justin, my fur trembles with anticipation
simply upon glancing at your beauty
upon hearing the dulcimer tones of your voice
singing only to me

Introducing Marty McFly Junior

from unicornprince.blogspot.com:
Did you realize this: there have only been THREE Back to the Future films!

One of the greatest film trilogies in history has been terribly neglected. Indiana Jones has a fourth film and also a young Indy tv series! Star Wars has had a Holiday Special, several tv series, and many more films. So why has Back to the Future not been given the same respect?

Clearly this is an oversight, so I will have to write one. I will be calling it MARTY MCFLY JUNIOR AND DOC EMMETT BROWN BECOME GLADIATORS IN ANCIENT ROME, WHILE RIDING A HOVERBOARD.

Of course the casting of Marty McFly Junior is most important. Since Marty Senior was a musician and treated all of us filmgoers to a beautiful rendition of Johnny B. Goode, Junior clearly needs to have inherited his talent!

I submit for your consideration: Justin Bieber

He is tremendously handsome, has musical talent, charisma, and most of all from this photo you can see how he embodies the rebel "slacker" attitude just like his father Marty McFly!
